Additional Information
Total Investment Explanation The final investment decision is targeted for late 2027, with production starting in 2030.
Funding EUR 350,000,000
Funding Explanation High-ranking German politicians such as Federal Minister for Economic Affairs presented the funding notice for the "Brandenburg eSAF" project at the PCK refinery site. With €350 million it is Europe’s largest public funding for a Power-to-Liquid project.
Technology Brief ENERTRAG and ZAFFRA (a Topsoe/Sasol joint venture) are constructing a facility to produce over 30,000 tons of eSAF annually from 2030, covering ~25% of Germany’s ReFuelEU obligation. Green hydrogen (from regional renewables) and biogenic CO₂ (from LEIPA) are converted via Fischer-Tropsch synthesis into climate-neutral aviation fuel (>90% CO₂ reduction). Hydrogen supply is secured through the Gascade pipeline network and on-site electrolysis.
