Technology Brief |
DRT, one of the world's leading companies in the extraction of resin and turpentine from pine resin, is supplied with steam for their production process from the Biomass Energy Solutions VSG (BESVSG) plant.
The CHP plant is owned by an SPV set up by DRT, ENGIE Cofely and the bank Caisse des Dépôts. This partnership has financed, built and operated the CHP plant, which uses local biomass resources, for at least 20 years.
The plant produces 97 GWh of electricity/year and 214 GWh of steam/year without the use of fossil fuels. This reduces CO2 emissions by 90,000 tons/year, as the efficiency of the plant is higher than 60%.
The biomass-fired CHP plant has an annual consumption of 150,000 tons of wood from forestry, uncontaminated residues from wood processing and DerTal. DerTal is a tall oil and a residual product from DRT.
