Technology Brief |
The Biolacq Energies project in Lacq is a biomass-fired combined heat and power plant with an annual fuel consumption of 160,000 tons.
Biolacq Energies, a subsidiary of ENGIE Cofely, supplies steam to SOBEGI in the INDUSLACQ industrial area and Seveco site.
The AET biomass boiler supplies steam to a high-pressure turbine, which sends medium-high pressure steam to SOBEGI as well as low-high pressure steam to an air-cooled condenser.
The AET biomass boiler burns wood from forestry as well as uncontaminated residues from wood processing.
The use of wood for energy production will prevent the emission of around 86,000 tons of CO2/year over the next 20 years. The plant will produce 89 GWh of green electricity per year, which is equivalent to the electricity consumption of 13,000 households.
The biomass boiler efficiency is 93.5%. Internal electricity consumption of 0.7% of the input power (359 kW)
Emissions were far below the strict French requirements.
The plant was completed and commissioned in 2016.
