Funding Explanation |
Swedish power-to-liquids (PtL) developer Liquid Wind AB has announced that it has been awarded a SEK 151 million (≈ EUR 14.78 million) investment grant from the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency's "Klimatklivet" (Climate Step) program for its FlagshipONE e-methanol production facility in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden.
|
Partners |
Along with Övik Energi, partners include Alfa Laval, Carbon Clean, Haldor Topsoe, Siemens Energy, Uniper, and Worley.
Denmark-headed energy utility major Ørsted A/S has announced that it has reached an agreement with the Swedish electro-fuels (eFuels) project developer Liquid Wind AB under which Ørsted will acquire a 45 percent ownership share of Liquid Wind AB’s FlagshipONE e-methanol project in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden.
|
Technology Brief |
Liquid Wind’s FlagshipONE is Sweden’s first commercial-scale electro-fuel (eFuel) plant that will supply the market with 50 000 tonnes per annum of renewable and fossil-free e-methanol fuel for shipping.
Using captured biogenic CO2 and green hydrogen produced using wind power, the plant will be built adjacent to Övik Energi’s biomass-fired Hörneborgsverket combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Örnsköldsvik. Along with Övik Energi, partners include Alfa Laval, Carbon Clean, Haldor Topsoe, Siemens Energy, Uniper, and Worley.

Additional Information |
Construction of FlagshipONE is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2022 and production is scheduled to begin in 2024.
