Additional Information |
Silva Green Fuel is a joint venture between Statkraft and Sødra for the development of advanced biofuels. The construction of a EUR 50.6M demonstration plant was completed in 2019 at the Statkraft Tofte site, a former pulp mill. The facility utilises Steeper Energy’s hydrothermal liquefaction technology (HydrofactionTM) to convert forest residues into a bio-crude oil at a rate of 4000 L/day. The goal is to upgrade the bio-crude oil to produce renewable diesel, jet or marine fuel. After a 2-year validation period, the plant should officially open in 2021, potentially leading to a future commercial scale operation by 2025.
