Pyrobiom Énergies inc., a subsidiary of ONYM Group, implemented a demonstration plant within a sawmill located in Parent, La Tuque, Quebec. The plant operated from 2016 to 2019 using an auger reactor-based pyrolysis process. The plant underwent significant process development and technology iterations before successfully producing pyrolysis oil, biochar, and non-condensable gases from sawmill residues, including tree bark.
This demonstration phase provided ONYM Group with the foundational operational expertise that led to the development of its current proprietary intermediate pyrolysis technology, now deployed at the Montréal-Est showcase plant.
