| Technology Brief |
The conversion process uses naturally-occurring organisms and proven, industrial equipment in order to reduce scale-up risk. Non-GMO bacteria ferment cellulosic sugars with nearly 100% carbon efficiency and the combination of biological and thermochemical processes deliver a 40% yield advantage compared to other processes. Like a petrochemical refinery, ZeaChem biorefineries can make multiple fuels and chemicals, shifting production to the highest margin products. Fuel products include ethanol; chemical products include acetic acid, and ethyl acetate.
